5.By N16htwalk3r | Review Date: I've played lots of (mostly point and click) adventures throughout the years and I must say that this adventure offered me some good hours of fun and laughing.I have to admit,it's far from being on the same level as the Monkey Island,Broken Sword,or other series, and yet I didn't stop playing it until the end.The story begins in a not so promising way when SImon, while arguing with his brother about who should watch TV,gets hit with the remote control. In his unconsciousness,he sees Alyx (who we know from the previous parts) who tells him that he should hurry to the Magic Kingdom and save them from an incoming danger. After that, you take control of Simon, whose first goal is to find a way to get to the Magic Kingdom. And the story continues to unfold, making you forget about the silly beginning and becoming more and more complex and interesting to follow, but with a non-climactic ending. And It's not too short as some adventures appear to be,so you will find yourself playing this game more than 10 hours by exhausting all of the conversations and objects in the game. The difficulty of the game feels just about right, and if you get stuck, you can view Simon's journal which serves as a reminder of what you should be doing, and with every click on the task you are interested in,you get a hint more on how to solve it.The (pre-rendered)graphics are pretty nice and fit with the whole atmosphere, while the music that follows you throughout the game has a medieval feeling all around it and can be charming, but at times it can also become repetitive. The animations are quite fluent, but I must note that in order to see them at their best, you have to have a solid PC configuration.Simon hasn't changed a bit, which means that you will hear him say (or do) something sarcastic or ironic once too often, which sometimes can be pretty nasty,so avoid showing this game to younger children. Some of the humor in the game can be quite funny, but there are also situations when you will find yourself asking if certain situations and conversations were made with the sole purpose to make us laugh, and yet, they didn't succeed in doing that. The interface is very neatly done, and follows every traditional point and click adventure, with the mouse cursor changing itself when you point to a person or a thing that can be examined, taken,or talked to.At the end,I must also say that although the origin of the game is German, the translation has been done pretty well, with just a few mistakes in the subtitles in the whole game. The voices of the characters are also well done, and if you're not looking for something special from their speech or accent, you won't mind them at all.Simon the Sorcerer 4:Chaos Happens is,by far,one of the best (bugs-free) adventure games in this current year and if you are looking for plain and solid fun without anything special,I warmly recommend it to you, even if you haven't played any of the previous parts(and hopefully,if you haven't played the 3D version, which was buggy and terrible.).There are just a few situations when some of the characters refer to a situation that happened in the previous parts, but those situations are only meant to make you laugh,so even if they don't,you will not find yourself lost at all.
